On December 22, 1882 the first electrically lit Christmas tree was displayed in the Fifth Avenue home of  Edward H. Johnson, vice president of Edison Electric Light Company (now Con Edison).  He had the bulbs especially made for him and is credited as the Father of Electric Christmas Tree Lights.
