Guide to Celebrating 4th of July

Whether you are a fan of celebrating the holidays as grandiosely as possible, or prefer to sit back and enjoy the time off work, Fourth of July is a day that holds something for everyone.  For most of us, it entails being outdoors with our loved ones, with food and drinks to keep us entertained until the grand firework show, which never fails to incite the same amount of excitement from kids and adults alike. For the supremely patriotic, it is a doubly special occasion, as it is the official day when they are encouraged to pay tribute to the homeland, with flag themed outfits, accessories and décor.

While it might be tempting to opt for one-time use, obnoxiously over-thematic items for your party, it is infinitely more fun (and environmentally friendly) to begin collecting classic items that will serve you for many more Independence Day parties to come.  And not to worry,  if you are not a fan of the American flag overload party, we have compiled here a list of items to help you set the mood for the theme-conscious but elegant 4th of July gathering.

The Bold and the Brave (with a classy touch)

It is no surprise that American flag themed items are a staple at Fourth of July celebrations. If you want to keep it classy but still employ the trend, we recommend incorporating accessories with the thematic print. Belts with flag stitching for the gentlemen, and flag themed enamel bracelets from Halcyon Days for the ladies, are a perfect small hoorah to the occasion, without the tackiness.

If you prefer to not wear the themed items all day, we recommend flag stitched items that can be stored away but are also easily accessible, for when the opportunity presents itself to show your subtle festive spirit.

The Silent Salute

If you prefer the more understated festive look, you can match the colors of your accessories to those of the flag. We have an endless selection of red, white and blue accessory pieces and based on  your preference, you can either have a one-color accent to your chosen outfit or a mix and match scene of all the flag colors.

Don’t forget that stars are equally festive for this day and so any accessory featuring stars would be appropriate for the occasion.

The Native Hallmarks

After adorning yourself, it is time to focus on the party décor. Like your accessories, a hassle-free way to set the mood at the table is to coordinate the colors of your tabletop ware with those of the flag.

Table accents are especially helpful on this front, as they can be used to create the unity needed to establish a specific theme.

For the more adventurous celebrators, we recommend honoring the hallmark traits of the homeland that are not the flag. For example, these serene plates featuring wildflowers only found on American soil can serve as perfect conversation starters.

The Home of the Free

And last, for the staunchly committed patriotic souls, 4th of July is the perfect occasion to stock up on American made items, as well as items that epitomize emblematic themes of the country. Nothing symbolizes American morals and beliefs better than the bald eagle. The exquisitely crafted ones from Herend and others, will serve as strong statement pieces, extending beyond the day when they are specially celebrated.

The process of curating the perfect collection for any occasion is not a fast on,e but it is an effort that is worth your time. Whether you are beginning this project or continuing it, we hope that you are able to obtain the pieces that can complete your collection and more importantly, can contribute to immortalizing the happy memories you have experienced while they were in use.
