The fine crystal manufacturer, Baccarat, has brought their illustrious touch to many big-name collaborations over the years. These endeavors with brands such as Chanel, Saint Laurent, and Supreme – to name a few – have resulted in one-of-a-kind creations only to be expected by the brand. The past year has given us even more brilliant designs through these fine crystal collaborations – two of which have recently found a home at Scully & Scully.

Designed by Japan’s Medicom Toy Corporation, BE@RBRICK is a bear-shaped figurine that has become a staple to street art-based modern expression. Since its creation, versions have made it into art galleries, celebrity homes, collections, and have become overall canvases for modern expression and style. The collectible’s design is based loosely on Mediacom Toy’s Kubrick line, a line created to pay homage to director Stanley Kubrick. BE@RBRICK has been given a new face by names such as Karl Lagerfeld, KAWS, Readymade, Chanel, and more. Baccarat has now teamed up with the toy manufacturer twice to give BE@RBRICK a timeless image. As always, the crystal bears are mouth-blown at Baccarat’s artisanal factory in France. Also, new for 2020, a deep black crystal will be available for pre-order.

Before this venture, Baccarat celebrated 225 years with the “Crystal Clear” collection designed by Virgil Abloh for the 2019 edition of Miami Art Week. Mr. Abloh has been the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection and is also the CEO of the Milan-based streetwear label, Off-White. The collection consists of chandeliers, table vessels, and drinking glasses.

Virgil stated, “In any creative endeavors, I am interested in collaborating with the best in class. For me, Baccarat represents the expression of the dynamism of crystal through history and today. The “Crystal Clear” line of objects is an extension of my art practice, expertly realized by the artisans of Baccarat.”

The chandelier and vases are made to order, but luckily the lidded crystal drinking glasses are available for immediate purchase.

Yet again, Baccarat remains top tier with their innovation for both longtime collectors and new appreciators alike in collaborations that can only be summarized as timeless modernity.
